Beta Participants … The Page Is Here

For the Beta Participants, your “special” page is here.

Of course, to access it, you’ll have to have the password that you can only get by accessing the beta Podcast with your Black Box.

This is going to be fun.

  1. OK Paul…

I’ll bite, how does this thing know what content to download? (How does one subscribe to the beta Podcast?)

I may be applying too much thinking to this… (LOL)

I’m up and running, but not seeing any Beta Podcast mysteriously appearing on my iPOD (although being a techie I’ve plugged in my Podcast Secrets Media Player as well).

Tell us O’ Puzzle Master, did I miss something or do I have a problem?

Received my box today…thank you! I’m excited to use it!

Do we use the Podcast Secrets players with this?

  6. Paul,
I finally did get the shipment (my neighbor stored it for me during the day when it was delivered and left at my porch, so that it would not be stolen — only problem was that he was out of town until yesterday). It must have come in either Monday or Tuesday, June 4-5.
However, the server side connection with the Casgle server appears NOT to be functioning properly; at first, the light did not blink, so no communication was made with the ethernet connection and the Podium box. Later, the blinking did start, but I assume it was from a wireless access point, and not with my ethernet cable connection.
After 12 hours, the blue blinking light and the Podcast Secrets mp3 player still indicate downloading.
I read about the problem with premature removal of the mp3 player from the unit.
However, now, I will be removing the mp3 player from the unit and start all over again to see if the download will actually occur.
Also, I am a bit frustrated, because your video that could probably give me an insight into solving this problem is now password protected, and the pw comes from the presumed download with no problem in connection. It is the same thing as calling tech support because you can’t get to your email; and the tech support folks won’t talk to you unless you give them the password that they just sent to you via email…a vicious circle? yes.

Now, since the only way we can pursue this is to get the password that is downloaded on the server connection and the download to the black box and the mp3 player, then I am out of service.
What is your backup for those who CANNOT GET THE PASSWORD DOWNLOADED when the server is not handshaking properly with the black box? Unless there is an alternative, then I feel that the beta is a waste of time, because of the chicken-and-egg syndrome. Please let me know how we can get support if your connection-and-download is not working properly.
    Thank you,
    Fred C.

  7. Hello-
Finally got connected after being out of town for a week.
Although the box seems to work correctly, I do have some frustrations with the beta test itself. I’ve been in the tech industry for a long time, and this does not seem to be a very well organized beta test.

I found nothing in the instructions packed with the Podium box that instructed me to go to the website after connecting the black box and connecting an MP3 player.

I suspected that I must need to go somewhere, tried the site and found the login screen. Those instructions should be clearly spelled out.

Also, there is one screen, the one which gives instructions for connecting the MP3, watching the blue lights, etc., that is very poorly written and full of mis-spellings – does not look very professional.

I’ve also found 2 MP3 players that the system will not connect with.

There also needs to be some instructions on how to subscribe to podcasts – outside of the beta test. I was pokeing around and I think I figured out how to do this, but again, there should be some very clear instructions.

The test has been running, I think, for over a week. I have not gotten one e-mail with any instructions about what they would like us to do with regards to the test. Seems that there should be a little better communications with the users in the field.

I did get a successful download of the 2 MP3 files on the player sent with podcast secrets, and I’ll be trying an IPod later.
